Boil Water Advisory Notice

3rd January 2022 - Your water is safe to drink

Falls Creek Resort Management, following consultation with the Department of Health, advises stakeholders and residents that the boil water advisory issued on 31/12/2021 is now lifted for Falls Creek. The water is safe to drink.

Water within the Falls Creek village may not be safe to drink without boiling
Issued: 31 December 2021
Next update: 1 January 2022

Falls Creek Resort Management, following consultation with the Department of Health, advises that Falls Creek Village should boil drinking water until further notice.

This advice has been issued following a power outage at the UV treatment plant this evening at approximately 7pm on the 31st of January 2021.  An estimated 8000L of water entered the network from the storage tanks during this time.  Please note that UV treatment has now been fully restored and is operating normally.

Additionally, supplemental chlorine dosing is now also operational and you may notice a change in taste and odour to your supply as a result.

Where possible, customers should bring water to a rolling boil before being used by heating the water until a continuous and rapid stream of air bubbles is produced from the bottom of a pan or kettle. Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable. Variable temperature kettles should be set to boil.

After heating, water must be allowed to cool before using it, and be stored in a clean, closed container for later use. Care should be taken to avoid scalding injuries, especially around children.

Boiled water can be used for:
• drinking
• preparing beverages
• washing and preparing food
• preparing baby formula
• brushing teeth
• making ice

Unboiled water can be used for washing your hands, showering and bathing, flushing toilets, washing dishes (ensure dry before use) and clothes and garden watering. Ensure water is not ingested whilst bathing.  Consumption of unboiled water can cause gastro-like symptoms. If you experience any of these symptoms, please contact your GP and inform your GP of this advisory.

Please share this advice with any guests in your accommodation/business.

Falls Creek Resort Management will keep you informed as the situation changes.  We are working as quickly as possible to remove this notice.
