Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management Board has been advised by the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio MP of appointments to the Board for the period March 30th, 2018 to March 29th, 2021. The Victorian alpine resorts’ economic contribution, environmental stewardship and provision of recreational and social benefits plays a vital role in state tourism and in their support for the local, regional and state economies.
Falls Creek, as the largest Victorian alpine resort and Bronze Award winner of the RACV Major Tourism Awards 2018, is pleased to make the following announcement regards its new Board members. The Minister has appointed the following members to the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management Board:
- Jo Shannon (Chair)
- Lindy Allen (Deputy Chair)
- Jason Alexandra
- Michelle Croughan
- Susan Lebish
- Helen Moran
- Peter Valerio
The Falls Creek Board is fortunate to retain the services of its outgoing Chair, Susan Lebish. Additionally, both Lindy Allen and Jason Alexandra continue their service. The Minister has confirmed that Susan will join Michelle Croughan, Helen Moran and Peter Valerio as common members on the Boards of Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Mount Buller and Mount Stirling. This is to assist with improving collaboration across the resorts.
In a statement, incoming Chair Jo Shannon said “It is a privilege to be appointed as the Chair of the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management Board. I am committed to taking an open and collaborative approach to deliver sustainable outcomes for all stakeholders. I look forward to working with the Board and the Falls Creek community.”
The Board looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the alpine resort sector, particularly in the areas of improved efficiency and transparency. Furthermore, it will work with the Alpine Resorts Co-Ordinating Council (ARCC) on its review of resort services, cost and efficiencies. Whilst already a leader in its adoption of climate change initiatives, Falls Creek has pledged to improve its environmental sustainability along with progressing its targets for improved resource use, and working towards complying with obligations under the Climate Change Act 2017.
As Falls Creek heads into its 7th Decade as an alpine resort, the Minister’s appointments to the Board will provide the strategic and governance framework aligned with meeting the resort’s obligations to its community, guests, resort users and stakeholders and thereby its relevance well in to the foreseeable future.
