Falls Creek Receives Bushfire Recovery Grant Funding

Falls Creek Resort Management is delighted to announce that it has been successful with its application to the Bushfire Recovery Regional Economic Stimulus and Resilience Grant Fund. A grant of $2.5million will be made available for the Lakeside Trailhead and Foreshore redevelopment project on foreshore area at Rocky Valley. The development will provide an icon trailhead for the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing and will assist growing water sports activation and recreation opportunities in the Resort.

The funding will see the development of the water sports and lakeside precinct of Rocky Valley Lake, which at 1600m is the highest and largest significant body of water in Australia. The visitor experience and amenity will be enhanced through improved visitor experience infrastructure, assisting with event activation in relation to water-based activities, as well as increased opportunities for nature-based and cycle tourism around the lake and across the Bogong High Plains.

Chair of the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management Board, Jo Shannon extended her thanks to the Federal Government. “The support being provided through this funding is greatly appreciated. As Falls Creek continues to recover from the impact of devasting bushfires in early 2020 followed by the halt of the 2020 Snow Season due to the pandemic, we are always looking for opportunities to improve the amenity of the Resort in all seasons. This funding aids the Resort to implement initiatives that increase year-round visitation to Falls Creek and the surrounding North East region”.

The development will change the way that visitors and the community interact with Rocky Valley Lake.”
